Re: AnonyMary & Churchill at the Getting Clear Conference
Outstanding post! The idea that Scientology nearly had gotten away scott-free with Operation Freakout is chilling. Because it reminds us all of the many hundreds of other Black Ops that were unfortunately never sufficiently exposed or at all. With 65 years of daily subterfuge, deception, fraud & treachery, one can only imagine what atrocities were perpetrated (then and now) which nobody has detected, yet, even a glimmer about.
That's one thing that Scientology is surely good at--lying--and covering up their trail of crimes, human misery with sanctimonious pronouncements and messianic scriptural quotes about love, greatness and human rights from Hubbard, the cult's sociopath-in-charge.
Now comes the great equalizer, 98% of Scientology's former membership turning into "bitter defrocked apostates" (i.e. unhappy former customers) who are armed to the teeth with facts and not shy about telling the world. Add to that combustible mixture the inexorable tsunami called the Internet, flooding the horrific truth about Scientology to billions of people daily.
Now about that last intriguing thought of yours about an "unseen hand" behind Paulette's near-death experience with Hubbard's terror cult, one pauses to consider this: It is infinitely better to touched by the invisible hands of a Guardian Angel than strangled by the invisible hands of a Guardian(s) Office.________________________
Scientology literally saved my life! Without Ron's books I would have frozen to death!!! (see avatar)
Scientology in one word? HelluvaHoax!
I never felt as free as when I freed myself from "Total Freedom".
For offended Scientologists reading this blasphemy about L. Ron Hubbard---my apologies for talking about real life without lying to you, like Scientology, with goo-goo theta-talk. I know you don't have a floating needle right now. You're not supposed to.

Re: AnonyMary & Churchill at the Getting Clear Conference
I read your beautiful comment and I just had to take a break. I was stunned seeing it, really. I am not used to receiving so much attention and gratitude, lol!! Here I am just chatting away about this series of events that had such an impact on me and I see your so unexpected expression of joy! Wow!!
Then I remember the comments of some others here expressing such heartfelt feelings from reading what Len and I are posting and it occurs to me that what is probably happening is that the joy that came to us from our adventures in deciding to go and then attending this conference, along with the joy felt and observed in so many others at there, that this overall effect it had on attendees is being shared with, and appreciated by those couldn't be there.
This was a most amazing and cathartic series of events for me and, I believe, for Len, too. I observed that being there really effected pretty much every ex who attended. For the Never-ins, it was thoroughly informative and engrossing. It was exciting for all to meet others whom they have known only through the internet or perhaps by phone. But what topped it off for all, I think, was the connecting of people IRL, and the sharing of do much information and experiences which is helpied bring people closer to the truth, while bridging the gaps that the internet and Scientology, by their very natures, create.
I am thrilled that you and others are enjoying my posts here!! Thank you.
I have much more to write about being there. There were 2 more sessions on Thursday, and then on Friday there was the morning and afternoon sessions. That was the last day of the conference! Then there was the Friday evening gathering for those who still remained at the hotel.
I am hoping Len will fill us in on the other days that he was able to attend, which I wasn't. I know his wife and family were in Toronto and enjoying the sights while he attended, but I don't know if he was able to catch all sessions on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday.
I am using the Getting Clear website schedule as reference, although there were later some changes to it that are not noted on it. Readers can see the full week schedule originally as planned here http://gettingclear.co/schedule.html~ Mary McConnell, my nom de plume

Re: AnonyMary & Churchill at the Getting Clear Conference
Len, you know I think you write beautifully, and Mary is also a wonderful writer. I am totally loving this thread. It's everything I love best about ESMB. Thank you both so much for starting it!!
Anyway, I mostly wanted to say how excited and overjoyed I am that you finally met Paulette. I know how very much it meant to you. I will never forget you showing me the Churchill building where she lived and looking up at the roof they wanted her to fall to her death from, and the little place across the street where you spent hour after hour after hour.
The good in all this is that we have all found each other and learned great life lessons.
I also hope your lovely wife and family had an awesome time in Toronto. I will never forget the amazing hospitality you all gifted me with.
Big hugs, and crocodiles!

Really interesting thread, and will go back to read all of it in its entirety.
But just had to ask about Google Maps and GPS. Aren't they they same? I am forever getting lost, shouting at the app on my phone and upsetting the kids in the car. -

Re: AnonyMary & Churchill at the Getting Clear Conference
I remember also that right upon descending from the observation deck of the Empire State Building, and while we were inside the building, I received Tony's email that announced the publication date of Miss Lovely.
I was overcome with emotion and so grateful you were there to share the moment.
And I may as well share this:
By then, in January 2015, I'd been posting on ESMB for a year and a half, and, as many I'm sure had observed, was, and always shall be, particularly sensitive to anti-Semitism.
At one point, after an encounter with one of Arnie Lerma's posts, I left ESMB (sorry, Emma) for several months, in disgust. Arnie had been one of the very first people I had reached out to, in 2013, privately, when I first began posting, because his anti-Scientology credentials were, and are, unassailable.
He and Linda Frempter, whom I knew well, had come to FOLO/EUS when I was there, or shortly after I'd left, and he'd done so much courageous work exposing Scientology as a fraudulent and criminal organization. It was he who had discovered Scientology's infamous "headless man" among other things. He was my hero!
I was personally devastated to realize that he believed that Israel was behind the 911 attacks and his disputation of the genocide of some six million Jews, (two-thirds of European Jewry) in the Holocaust.
When I posted, on January 8, 2014, six months after my arrival at ESMB that "It is beneath the dignity of decent and intelligent people to struggle over the superstitions of Arnie Lerma regarding the Holocaust" it was with a very heavy heart. I so did not want to, and indeed it was not until earlier this year that I stated my belief that he is an anti-Semite. I am owed, but do not expect an apology from several of Arnie's friends who joined in their criticism of me.
I attributed his anti-Semitism to the involvement he had with the notorious head of the Liberty Lobby, Willis Carto, and whose magazine, The Spotlight, was filled with anti-Semitic diatribes, and which, incidentally, Hubbard himself had been a loyal subscriber to for many years.
I believe that at a particularly difficult time in his life, specifically after Scientology had "legally" invaded his home, seized his computers and other records, and made his life a living hell, Arnie had gone to, and received support and understanding from Willis Carto. Interestingly, Carto would be later ousted and succeeded at the re-named IHR (Institute for Historical Review) which was devoted to Holocaust Denial by Tom Marcellus, a Scientology OT!
Ever since the first Gulf War, in 1991, when Israel, a non-combatant in that war, had been forced to passively accept Scud Missiles which potentially could be armed with chemical and biological warheads and with Israeli civilians deliberately being targeted, my nascent Judaism had re-awakened. I flew to Israel, volunteering at an IDF base in January of 1991.
The thought of the very real possibility of Jews once again being gassed in the 20th Century, as the world again was averting it's gaze, only this time, in their own tiny sliver and refuge of a country was simply too much, and the consequences too unimaginable for me, a lapsed Jew, to bear.
That it required a geopolitical event of the magnitude of the first Gulf War to begin to shift my moral compass in earnest, speaks to the strength of the enduring mindfuck that Scientology can effectuate.
At this point I was unaware of the Internet, and only wanted to be under the radar as a Scientologist as much as I possibly could.
I hadn't examined or reflected upon any of my GO/OSA activities, particularly with regard to Paulette. Those demons would wait. I only knew that I could not, and would not, continue with them.
I apologize for this being an off-topic post, and I hope that it does not come across as self-serving or self-indulgent. It's just that the stuff of our lives happens within a context, and this is my honest attempt to provide it.Last edited by Churchill; 10th July 2015 at 05:11 PM.

Re: AnonyMary & Churchill at the Getting Clear Conference
Thanks for posting about this. Here is a link to the post on that coment you refer to making. It's here in this now-closed thread link.
http://www.forum.exscn.net/showthrea...l=1#post894049
Reading posts before it and afterwards, I'd say that you did an excellent job of commenting while maintaining dignity and grace amid the nonsense being posted there. I avoided that thread and so many other world conspiracy threads, many of which Arnie began posting on, even creating some, over recent years.
I don't want to tie up and derail our thread here by going into this subject and the subject of Arnie but I will say this here (and perhaps post elsewhere in the future my thoughts about him and all of this), that I have never read, or shared in or supported any of his world conspiracy interests or posts, or his ideologies and positions on the Jewish people and their past. Thus I never knew until recently that he harbored such hostilities and beliefs, and that he was posting about them here, to the dismay of many others.
Arnie is not the person he once was. From what I have seen mentioned by others about he and them, perhaps these ideas were formed many years ago and just not made known publicly as well as he's been making them known in recent years. I have observed, and I am not alone in this observation and concern, that Arnie is, and has been for some time, in a decline mentally. Like some here who have gotten up in age and begun to find it hard to gather thoughts and recall things as easily as in the past, I have noticed, and he has told me and others, that he has memory issues. That he has been dealing with this for some time, most acutely since having to live on pain killers for some time before finally getting a back operation. But that the operation itself took a lot out of him and his memory was effected still, without the pain meds or needing them.
He has spent a significant amount of time, effort and money, researching about and ingesting a variety of 'natural' supplements he found information on that he hoped to help his memory. Last I heard from him on this was that he was doing better on them and not declining.. That was a couple of years ago. His posts withing the last few years indicate something is going on that is not getting better. He often copy pastes things he's written previously rin lieu of a new thought, his reposts of things seem sloppy, not well thought out or formatted, and there is an insistence to his posts that he must get the last word in to prove he is right...and if people don't agree, he posts insults or rude quips back, implying that the responder is stupid, rather than even looking into what the poster is saying.
I sometimes think that maybe he's going senile... a little bit at a time and we are seeing the cumulative effect showing in his posts, as time goes by. The worst in people, especially if it's been restrained because of social peer pressure, tends to come out as people get older. If not noticed and checked by the responses of others, this part of a person becomes more and more unrestrained and unconcerned with what people think, no matter how bright or witty or good person was in the past.
This is just my feeling about this, unsupported by anything other than my observations and communications with him in the past. I often hope that Arnie's betrayal to me is the result of the decline in this mental functioning I became aware of some years back, rather than a maliciousness in his heart. But when I see that his wild ideas and denials mentioned by others, I can't help but wonder if he is more of a hater at heart than than someone afflicted with a slowly declining mental capacity.
In any event, you are the more factual and compassionate. Thanks for posting about this.~ Mary McConnell, my nom de plume

Re: AnonyMary & Churchill at the Getting Clear Conference
Thanks, Hoaxie.
You do know, I hope, how much your razor sharp wit and genuinely wonderful sense of humor have eviscerated the Scientology matrix of thought whenever it's raised it's ugly head in your presence.
You entertain as you educate, and I've learned never to drink my coffee at the same time as I read your posts. You have helped me to make my way through the Scientological labyrinth more times than I can count.
By the way, on p.108 of Jon Atack's brilliant A Piece of Blue Sky, he writes about Hubbard's belief that he had a "Guardian Angel" who protected him as glider pilot.
Hubbard referred to her as the Empress and Jon also notes reports that Hubbard claimed that she (the Empress) had dictated DMSMH to him, which accounted for his being able to write it in three weeks. The man was clearly out of his mind.
So just for the record, my reference to an unseen hand was meant more as a literary device than a reference to divine intercession, though I am loathe to discount it entirely.Last edited by Churchill; 10th July 2015 at 06:58 PM.

Re: AnonyMary & Churchill at the Getting Clear Conference
It was wonderful to be there to share that moment, and especially after the exhilaration of looking out with the whole world seeming like it was at our feet and all around us, and then for such amazing good news and everything it meant to you in your story and your journey.
New York was like fairy land to me -this amazing miracle that from the first time I ever flew over it I thought it must surely be one of the great wonders of the world, and then, seeing it with you and Linda and Jo was just like being a child again. And it was just one of those times where everything goes right and everything is perfect, after I actually found my way to you at the station, that is!! Lololololol!!
And I waxed lyrical on the wonders of the ESMB ignore button and converted you!!
Edit: And it was Linda who told me, "There's nothing wrong with garlic farming," and opened my eyes to a lot of things about farming that made me feel excited about it. It was something I thought I would never do, but I was seriously considering it and she gave me a lot of confidence to make me believe I could do it, and that it was something worthy of honour and respect. The events of that weekend changed both our lives, I guess, and now you are speaking at conferences!! So proud of you!!"Of course, now the worst kind of a trap of all, of course, i...is...is a...a beautiful woman. Uh...- that's a theta trap we all know. Re: AnonyMary & Churchill at the Getting Clear Conference
Mary, Churchill, I share the sentiment of not wishing to derail your thread, however at the same time wanted to say that Arnie helped me personally through the final clutches of brainwashing, and for that I will be forever grateful. As far as his memory is concerned, mine is rather forgetful at times too, and I'm definitely not the bright eyed, bushy tailed person I once was.
I don't have any dog in this fight, nor do I know about any previous histories here. I am absolutely not anti Semitic and will spare the, 'my best friends are Jewish,' badge, however I do feel that in a community, whether it's one's own neighbourhood, scientology or even a critic community, there will be people who have done heroic things in the past, and maybe are slowing down. And sometimes lots of questions that have already been answered simply need a post that has been already well thought out in the past, and therefore the response is still relevant.
Anyway, my point being that Arnie's posts helped me.
Namaste.-

Re: AnonyMary & Churchill at the Getting Clear Conference
I'll go, but only if you and AnonyMary will be sitting next to me.
And as long as we're predicting things, let me add mine: The videos that were made of the extraordinary Toronto speakers (I don't use the word lightly) will create ripples that we can only begin to imagine.
They were that good. All of them.
Jon Atack gave a talk at the Conference in Ireland earlier this year.
It included some, but not all of the points he covered in Toronto
It's on You Tube, if someone can find it and post it.
I jokingly said that we should name the event the "Toronto Doctorate Course."
No one laughed.-Len Zinberg (aka Churchill)
